Designing an Event: How To Communicate Your Vision to your Wedding Planner

How to communicate your vision to your wedding planner & vendors

How do you determine your wedding style
and communicate this idea to your planner and vendors?

Reflecting your true aesthetic is one of our main objectives! Here are some tips that we share with the couple’s that we collaborate with.

First, we suggest saving any photo that jumps out at you. This could be an amazing room from an interior designer’s Instagram feed, Pantone colors that speak to you, a particular font you just love, a wallpaper you’re obsessed with, your dream wedding gown, an awesome bag etc. Don’t censor yourself. Sometimes this can simply be an image of a place that evokes a warm and fuzzy feeling from you.

Second, take a look at what you’ve saved. Do most of the images have a bright and airy feeling to them? Are they sexy and moody? Preppy? Boho? Do you keep saving the same color garden rose over and over? Start sorting through these until you create a cohesive idea for you. Ask yourself specifically what about the image appeals to you.

Continue to fine-tune this down to about a dozen images. We will take these inspirational photos and begin to create a mood board for the overall aesthetic of your wedding. Each vendor can draw inspiration from your mood board from the caterer who may garnish trays of hors d’oeuvres with thinly sliced preserved lemons if you love vintage lemon prints. The same vintage lemon print can be replicated as serving tray liners, cocktail napkins or even a fabric insert for your bar. These small details help us understand which creative vendors to partner with for you event to create a profoundly personal celebration for you while staying within the budget parameters that we set.
